Hello everyone. New to Mint. Came over from the Freespire forum. I downloaded and installed Mint 7. Was able to install WVDial with no problem and have access to the repositories. In my location, we only have dial-up service available. I downloaded both Gnome ppp and Kppp and installed. Both programs dial-up my server but hangs during theauthorization process. In Kppp configuration, it states that the pppd is unknown. Not sure what to do? Any help? Thanks, Dr.C

It will be the configuration strings for the AT compatible commands
--you could compare the Wvdial ppp configurations or start looking at the Linux ppp setups

--you will have to pay attention to the modem command strings (AT commands)


However wvdial is a standard for modem work with Linux

• If all of this fails, wvdial just runs pppd(8) and hopes for the best. It will bring up the connection, and then wait patiently for you to drop the link by pressin CTRL-C.

Thanks DrHu for the info. Have been able to get both Kppp and Gnome PPP working. One must also nit forget to enable permission in the user account for dial-up modem.
