They do offer install instructions for an ubuntu repo, so there's no real need to package it specifically for mint. When it conforms to ubuntu packaging guidelines, it'll make it's way into the main repos (a process which can be sped up by asking them to get it into ubuntu's repos directly)

Hi,

Sorry to resurrect old thread, but did you manage to add the Ubuntu repository to Mint?

I am having trouble adding deb http://www.mendeley.com/repositories/xUbuntu_9.04 /

I don't know where to put the "repositories" and "xUbuntu_9.04" into the repository manager so it can find the packages.gz file. It keeps setting up the wrong path.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi, from the terminal : gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list . . enter your password, then copy/paste the info below (in green) to a separate line at the end of the sources.list file.

Code: Select all

deb http://www.mendeley.com/repositories/xUbuntu_9.04 /
From their website :
Then in a terminal window as root enter the following lines to download and install Mendeley Desktop, press 'Y' when asked to install unsigned packages:
apt-get update
apt-get install mendeleydesktop

Then in a terminal window as a user enter the following to run Mendeley Desktop:
mendeleydesktop

Thanks, that worked great :)

I will use this method in future when adding ubuntu repositories. I had been lazy using the repository gui ;)

Installed Mendeley today on Linux Mint 12, but only could install it from Synaptic Package Manager and not from the Mendeley home page, which installs fine in earlier versions of Gnome/Mint/Ubuntu. Hopefully, someday, Mendeley will be installable directly from the Software Manager.
