GNOME OR KDE MINT?

KDE OR GNOME MINT?

I wonder what the reasons are for your preference.
It would be very interesting and useful to see how many people prefer one or the other. What is it that you find better or more useful in each one.

I have always been a KDE fan myself.
But to be frank, though I have been going back and forth between the Gnome and KDE desktop,
I still can't make up my mind; especially when Mint did such a good job with the looks of Gnome.
Also, the ingenious innovations that the developer added to it, which can't work in the KDE desktop, made Gnome Mint friendlier to the Newbie.

So, I am more inclined to like Gnome Mint.
What is your opinion?

PS Your argumentation may help some people to decide on one or the other.

I like Gnome, it has always been very stable for me. KDE always seemed kind of buggy to me. Konqueror never displayed drives properly for me, just empty folders. K3b would crash after updating it or wouldn't work anymore. Gnome just works for me.

I like KDE more than GNOME. The overall handling, for example,
file browsing or plug and play or especially the file open or file save dialog, are much better in kde, for me.
and i like more the kde apps. they have for me a better look & feel, than gnome apps.
if linux mint will be released with kde and the extras which are now in the gnome variant only, then i will switch to the kde variant.

I prefer Gnome, but some of the apps in Bianca KDE looks nice

I had always used Kde in the past and came to gnome through Mint, my feeling is now i love gnome everything seems to me to be that little more streamlined, good on the eye and not as chunky as kde

going back and forth myself....

but after using Gnome exclusively for some 6 months I've installed Bianca KDE and immediately decided that I like it a lot better... I find it to be a bit more user friendly with KDE apps... they always have that one extra option in the GUI that I find really helpful and that makes me avoid CLI ...

While I was a complete n00b I prefered Gnome because all those extra options confused the hell out of me...

The visual look I find simply completely superior in KDE.... Gnome may go with functionality - it takes minimum space and all, but KDE is really a pleasure to work with...

Downloaded the KDE version of Mint. It seems all versions of Mint before 3.0 do not like my mouse and keyboard... Oh, well. Cassandra rocks!

I always have used Gnome and most likely always will.
Mainly because it is very easy to use and to me it looks
better.
I have tried KDE distros on occasion but could never get
used to them; so I always returned to Gnome.

I am currently playing around with Daryna KDE. I kind of like it so far.
I particularly like the Tasty Menu; I find it a lot easier to use compared
to the regular K-Menu.

I agree with my friend to the north - Toontwnca. Although I have tried several KDE desktops only two were noteworthy: MINT and PCLOS. I always return to gnome - what else do you need?

Fluxbox

When ever I ever try either of the big two (Gnome or KDE) I always return. Small footprint, fast, love the tabbing, hot keys, menu, simplicity and customization of it. Not to mention the pure "sexiness" of it

But if you're going to choose between Gnome or KDE, Gnome hands down. KDE throws too much crap in.

Here I am again.

I finally made up my mind! Gnome is finally my choice.
The innovations added to Cassandra and Mint in general, and the new Gnome-Mint look are the main reasons.
Besides I find Gnome Mint more stable, easier and more user friendly because of
its simplicity.

Good choice

Gnome is much cleaner code IMHO .

KDE I've found to be just too Kludgy! Play with Gnome and later on you can mess with the other Window Managers.

I like more the KDE environment. I like the fact that I have more control over the customized desktop than GNOME (my point of view). As far as for the functionality both environments do the basics very well. Maybe GNOME is better for a new in linux (I see it as more easy to "figure it out". My vote goes however in favor of KDE.

I would like for instance to have both installed (KDE and GNOME) in the same partition. In this way I could choose either one as I please every time I boot my pc. Maybe we could have in the future an installation dvd from the mint team with the ability to choose which environment (KDE and/or GNOME) will be installed (with dual installation feature included). That would be something...
