Using UNetbootin, I have installed Linux Mint to an 8GB USB flash drive. When only a public PC is available, I intend to boot from the flash drive before checking e-mail, surfing the web, etc.
For my purposes, it is important that no data be written to the hard drives of the PCs I might use. It appears to me that Linux Mint mounts all hard drives in a PC by default. Can I easily prevent this? If so, how?
If I can't easily prevent auto-mounting, is there a risk of writing data to the hard drive of a PC I am using?

Mint does not mount hard drives "by default" but a "normal system" mounts anything connected through USB by default
I have never managed to run form a pendrive because I can't get my computers to boot from one, but I don't think that changes anything
