Is there another useful Internet Browser for Mint 8 Gnome? I am not happy with the delays using FF 3.5. Thanks.

Try this, it's the open source version of Google Chrome and is fast.

Thanks but all that did is take me to the below. I have no idea on what to do with a tar.gz thingy.900i wrote:http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php

Anything in the Progam Manager? I looked there for Opera but I was not sure it would work in Mint 8 Gnome.

Opera works fine. There is also Seamonkey, Epiphany, and several others.

I usually 'tweak' everything about FireFox, before getting started using it, and FireFox 3.5.5 is no different.
http://www.tweakguides.com/Firefox_1.html (some reading to do but very useful and informative)
As, I mostly use the Xfce desktop, I have installed Midori from the Mint repos . . . works great and is the fastest browser I've seen.

lexon,
I wish I could say you are doing something wrong, but unfortunately FF, especially the 3.5 series, has had some problems. Many others have reported numerous issues with FF in the last 6 - 8 months.
From an outsider's point of view, I fear that FF is becoming too Windows focused. There seems to be less and less being done with the Linux version.
It took an unusually long time for Iceweasel 3.5 to get into sid. This leads me to believe that there was quite a bit that had to be done to FF 3.5 to get it up to Debian's admittedly high standards.

Re: Looking for Inernet brwoser
Hi Fred
Thanks, I am figuring the same. Windows still has a lot of influence. Time for change. FF has been a nice ride from Windows days at least six years ago but I am looking forward. I do not like standing still or marking time.
Of course, it may be my three PC's that are the problem running FF 3.5.

lexon,
If you are interested in Google Chrome but can't handle .tr.gz packags, check out Softpedia's download site.
http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload ... 48046.html
Thry have both 32 and 64 bit versions in .deb packages. Much simpler to install.
They also add a google chrome site to /etc/apt/sources.list so you get all updates to new builds automatically through mintUpdate.

Re: Looking for internet browser SOLVED
Thanks. I used a deb file a couple times in the past and it worked ok. I will look into it.
