boot in text mode / ctl alt backspace to get to console

Post by baomike »

It would be nice to be able to boot into console mode. startx has always worked for me.

it would also be nice to be able to get to the console (ctl alt backspace)
and to restart with ctl alt f7.

I have not yet been able to find what file hides the devious command that keeps the Xwindow coming back like bad popup. It is one I would delete with
profound sense of satisfaction and relief.

Please start a new thread for a new question. It was also in the wrong subforum - moved
I think you've asked about ctl alt backspace somewhere else too, because I recognize it, but then I did not understand why you wanted that
to be able to get to the console (ctl alt backspace)
It's ctrl+alt+F1 (and F2>6). With ctrl+alt+F1 you end up in TTY1 - restart with F7 as you write

Why?
Note: if you boot into recovery mode you are root and that's no good unless for recovery. You exit that with exit....
