Getting WIN TV USB to work in Gloria XFCE

Post by martinfromdublin »

I've being trying for some time now to get my WIN TV USB to work in Gloria XFCE with no success to date. I've read via Google that the drivers are included in the kernel & that all I need do is install the appropriate appiclation but each that I've tried doesn't seem to see the WIN TV device or else just crashes/closes when run or if I try to modify the settings.

For the record, the device model is WINTV USB Model 40209 Rev E1A5. Here's my lsusb with all devices switched on except my printers (although one seems to be listed anyway).

I have a Hauppauge Nova -t USB that works out of the box in Mint 5 but does not work at all in Mint 7. So I hope that by reading this thread I may learn something.

I run both Mint 5 and 7 at the moment on two different hard drives. Mint 5 is just for recording TV from the Hauppauge box.

Best regards Keith

Extra info;

Message from TVTIME reads: 'Frames too short from USBVision' 'Cannot open capture device dev/video0'

Is this of any use?

Hi bobmc

Still having this issue although I'm now using Mint 8. I went to that site you suggested but there's no tools for testing on it that I can see. Also went through the CD rom that came with the device, no firmware files on it either.

I have installed Min8 64 bit and Kaffeine from the download manager. The Hauppauge WinTV Nova-t USB stick now works fine again. I did NOT download any firmware, it just run from the new Mint 8 setup "out of the box"

Best regards Keith.
