I think I had this same problem trying to add a link in places to my ubuntu one folder - /home/stu/Ubuntu One, strangly enough it worked on my desktop PC without any quotes no problem but every time i tried it on my laptop it just wouldnt work, it just said cound not find folder /home/stu/Ubuntu and could not find /home/stu/One. putting quotes around whole location didnt work, finally solved it with /home/stu/"Ubuntu One".

OK, solved my own problem whilst writing this, desktop had updated to MintMenu 4.9.4, laptop hadn't yet, guess that means that the update solved the problem for me.

Yep, it looks like it's fixed. Have to add " " around the path if it has spaces.

If anyone ever asks what the difference is between Ubuntu and Mint point them to this topic.

It took 27 calendar days to fix this bug ( it may have been fixed earlier - I haven't kept Mint 8 as up to date as I should  ). Compare that to embarrassingly persistent bugs in Ubuntu that have been there literally for years.

Okay, " " works if its at the end of the path. But if the HD's name has a space in it like /media/BIG ONES/Downloads it still gives the error. /media/"BIG ONES"/Downloads doesn't work either.

This doesn't work: "/media/BIG ONES/Downloads"

A space in the label of a hard disk does not seem good to me, or is that "only" the mount point (not much better)

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

I just did a test on "/Windows/C/Documents and Settings/Administrator" and it fails.

The mount point here is /Windows/C.

OOPS. We're still not there yet.
