This is a recent installation of Helena Standard Edition in a new Dell Inspiron 1700 laptop, with Windows-7.
I have a persistent box [won't delete] in the Desktop which returned when I resumed from hibernation. [One of 25 available under compiz].
This desktop also contains a terminal, in which the command $ sudo hibernate had been entered causing the hibernation.
The box says:
"Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation
X server version data:
The X.Org Foundation
10604000
If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd"
Accordingly, I have entered those two commands, with results as follow:
theo@TJTLAP3Helena ~ $ xprop -root | grep XKB
_XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "gb", "", ""
_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "gb", "", ""
theo@TJTLAP3Helena ~ $ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
layouts = [ie,gb]
options = [terminate terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp]
model =
I hope this is useful - I went to the bug-report forum for Helena, but this is evidently not well enough supported to qualify for reporting there.
Yours sincerely,
Theo Tulley.
