How to create shortcut of application on desktop?

Hi anyone can tell me how to create shortcut of any application like real player, xine,abiword which is installed on my cassandra.I tried by right click of mouse with launcher but not happened anything.And in main menu one it says add to favorites.Pls guide thanks in advance.

Hi i did that but it say not possible to create launcher.I tried to make shortcut of real player.It ll be better if you guide considering real player ex.I mean guide me which file has to select from real player folder.Thanks

you could drag the realplayer icon from the menu to the pannel.
