Menu dont display applications list

I have the linux mint 8.

Yesterday i made changes in the mintmenu (change icon, colors, and icons size). Before this the mintmenu dont display the apps list, Places, System, Favorites and recent documents it looks ok

Only the apps list is blank, i can see the icons and names of the aplications.

I put the default menu bar panel of gnome and the result is the same, dont display apps lis (only places and system).

I uninstall the mintmenu and reinstall again but is the same thing.

Could a little changes in the menu make dont work the menu?

How can i fix this

Try turning off desktop effects, reboot and turn them back on. I had a problem with compiz and the menu, it comes and goes. I did see a compiz update in the proposed repo but it hasn't made it into the main repo just yet.
