It becomes complicated when I have several persons asking for help in one topic - I mix you up
Not Only TV LV9H Hybrid ExpressCard + Ubuntu gave 7 hits in Polish on Google
2304:023e Linux gave 5 useless hits, without Linux it was mostly about quasars (astronomy) and
2304:023e Pinnacle gave four hits, one in Italian about our subject, the rest useless
The Italian one is quite new, but for openSUSE, but I think it should be possible to use that guide
I don't read Italian but I can follow the guide anyhow
At one stage the command is sudo zypper - forget about that you should do apt install build-essential should you try that solution
Blog post here
The google translate found here seems OK

After installing Mint 8 and every media player that I can find ,not one of them finds my TV card. Pulse finds the audio chip but that's it except for one surprise. While checking Skype web cam settings what do I find in the cam options, my TV Card with it's correct model name ( not included in the list yet ).

Anyone want to explain this one ?????

I have done exactly whats described in the first post and entered the correct card no. in bttv. Although my capture card is found it doesn't seem to connect to anything except cheese and of course I can't do anything with tunning.!
Gnome radio also gives an error "dev not found".
Below I have listed what I hope is enough detail.

It's a shame Husse is no long with us as he would have pointed you in the right direction.

I'll not sure if this helps but I have card which is supported by the Kernel but refused to work even though it was fine in Win Vista..having said it was a fight to get it to work there too!

What I did discover which may help some people here is that I had to power down / remove card / reboot mint / shut down / power down / reroot and there was the my TV card!

Don't ask why as I don't know but it worked !

As for finding BTTV settings just google for BTTV and your card type. Thats how I found mine.

I still havn't routed the audio from TV time or zapping TV to my sound card or pulse yet but It is there and I have input....

Tv cards are quite a battle in Linux so be patient you will get there in the end.

I just installed Mint 9 with Hauppauge HVR-1255 card. The drivers are there, but according to dmesg I need to set the option "card=20" in the insmod.

I see there are instructions about creating or modifying files but I'm a bit confused which file it is on Mint 9 that needs to be edited. Do I need to edit /etc/modules file? What exactly do I put in there?

In case someone searches an application for Devices with a build-in hardware mpeg2 encoder like the devices supported by the ivtv, pvrusb2, cx18 or cx88-blackbird driver have a look at TV-Viewer. So far only analog TV is supported but this will change in a future Release.

Hy everyone,

I read every post, and tried solutions offered, but as more as I try more it seems that I do not know exactly what my problem is.
So I have Asus Tv-FM 7134 card and Linux Mint 9: Isadora. The thing is that when I run Tvtime, Kaffeine or even Me-TV TV card isn't recognized.
And to get things even more stupid, Skype recognizes it and with no problem plays static from it. So on with the relevant info:

I just installed Linux Mint 10 and I'm trying to get my Avermedia Aver Tv Go 007 FM (analog) to work. I've used this card in older versions of Ubuntu and openSuSE 11.3, but it doesn't seem to work in mint.
I tried:
Code: Select all
vali-desktop vali # modprobe saa7134_alsa
vali-desktop vali # modprobe saa7134 i2c_scan=1

and
Code: Select all
modprobe saa7134_alsa
modprobe saa7134 card=52 tuner=5

I even added these modules to /etc/modules and restarted my system.

Code: Select all

Well, thanks for all the help but it ain't working. I'm not new to linux, but I'm new to Mint. But I love it.

Anyway, I followed the steps above to install my tv @nywhere card and started up tvtime. Without success. And now I'm stuck. Having no knowledge about how the tv stuff works in linux, I'm asking you for advice plz ;-)

Well, I tried to follow this guide but it is a bit unclear to me. I own an MSI TV@nywhere Pro and uses Mint Julia 64-bit.

I tried to follow this guide but maybe I used the wrong number? Anyway, it ain't working :-(
82 -> MSI TV@Anywhere plus [1462:6231]

Any advice? Meanwhile, I'll try again, over and over...

For info - Hauppauge 1300 (notoriously difficult to get going with Linux) just works with LMDE, TVHeadend and XBMC - as does my no-name Winfast dongle.
