Permanent additions to the root menu must be added with the custom-menu-entries file. The current beta build of Chrome puts the .desktop file in the wrong place so it will not natively show up in your menu. Open a terminal and run this command and it'll show up in your "Internet" submenu:

Code: Select all
sudo cp /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome.desktop /usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop

wassm. wrote:And do i have to log in after every reboot? I checked by installation auto login, but it seems not to do that.

The presence of login options in the installer is a bug in the RC that will be fixed for the final. If you want to set up automatic login, you need to update slim to the current version in the repo and you'll see a tool for setting it up in the menu at "System -> Preferences -> SLiM Autologin"

wassm. wrote:Well, i changed there the font size-but i only get changed main menu size (right mice click). It works after reload config, but after reboot old settings are back.

Still, my problem is not the main menu font size, but font size in programs-i just noticed that after every reboot i have bigger fonts-see picture below. And in virtualbox i have no such problems-font seeems to be just the right size. The same theme.

Did you adjust the system font size in "System -> Preferences -> Appearance"? This will set the font size for most applications, but not for any of the Fluxbox styles.

Also, if all of your settings are returning back to the default, make sure the package mint-fluxbox-livecd is not installed. It should have been removed during installation.

Thanks for answers. Well, i mentioned that chrome is almost not working at all-i use system bar, but still-there is no flickering, but it won´t open almost any page.

My question about fonts still remains open-itried almost everything but can not reduce font size in app menus. Bug, or something?

Go to "System -> Preferences -> Appearance" and set a new font in a new size, then look at your ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file and see if the changes are reflected there.

Remember that Chrome is still beta software and it will still be very buggy. I think they're doing daily builds at this point, so if it doesn't work for you one day, uninstall it and try it again the next day. Have you messed with any other browsers? I'm continually impressed with Opera and I usually use Midori for general web browsing.

Ok, the size was changed in file manager and in firefox-even after reboot-but it does not affect openoffice-there i have really ver big font size. Maybe is that connected with my other thread abouto ooo3 and gtk system theme?

OpenOffice uses it's own settings somewhere. I really don't know how to mess with that as I migrated to Google Docs quite some time ago. Look in the OpenOffice forums and see what you find there, and I'll try and figure out what's up.

I tested midori, and is really fast-but it can not open my java e-banking site. Is there any aditional plugin or something to activate it?

No. Midori isn't a browser with full support for a lot of web applications. It's crazy fast and good for browsing, but I keep Opera installed for when I have to do something more involved (such as Google Docs, or anything java-intensive).

Just shame-midori is almost fast/maybe faster as google-chrome. Unfortunately as i installed google-chrome on fluxbox mint i can not use anymore my netbanking java applet (had this issue in October, but it was fixed in some later edition).

So, i am stuck with firefox, although it is the slowest of these browsers-especially when there are more tabs opened.
Opera-just not my type of browser...

Not very impressed.

Still, have some little issue. Shiki Mint main menu-should submenus be rounded or cornered? After reboot they are cornered but after a while some submenus are rounded. Even main menu is sometimes rounded. All app windows are cornered. What should be default behavior?

The same behavior with external display plugged in or not.

This is an issue with Fluxbox. Support for rounded corners is still a comparatively new feature. Sometimes the menu gets it, sometimes not. Fortunately this doesn't affect stability in any way.

As said-no big deal. Still is it possible to switch off rounded corners support-i like them cornered? Or just leave it...

Open the ~/.fluxbox/init script and look for the line that says "session.screen0.toolbar.tools:". The layout is listed there, feel free to rearrange at will.
