Intel 845G Graphics Driver Issue

Hi all. just downloaded and install Mint.

I was using Ubuntu but after several hours of fiddling trying to get drivers for my Intel 845G working i broke the install

So decided to start fresh with Mint but im facing the same problem.

I have tried the steps in this post here:

but that wont work and ive tried a few other things but so far i cant cant get the video drivers for this chipset installed or working and I'm hoping someone here either knows how to fix it or can help me out.

Im not a total noob to Linux as ive used it on and off over the years but please do treat me like one cus i still don't really know all that much

Not sure if it will help you, but it has helped others.
Open the Update Manager, login -> Edit -> Preferences -> Levels tab. Check Level 4 visible, close Preferences, reload, then click the xserver-xorg-video-intel checkbox, install, reboot . . .
