Papirus Icons Slow Down Nemo

Post by NeXTLoop »

I tried using the Papirus icons and I noticed that Nemo took roughly 3 seconds to open. Thought it was a bit excessive, so I went back to the Mint-Y icons and Nemo went back to opening almost instantaneously.

I've tested this on a:

- Tuxedo Pulse Gen 1, AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, 32GB RAM
- 2019 HP Pavilion, Intel Core i3 8th Gen, 8GB RAM

The behavior is identical on both machines running LMDE6 with all updates.

Anyone else seeing this?

Reason: "running LMDE6": thread moved from Main Edition to LMDE forums

Is the Papirus theme available for selection under your Icons? It is not for me. How do you get Papirus as an Icon selection?

It's one of the default options for me on both machines.

Don't know if the same thing is happening here but we've run into a similar issue before with icon views. Papirus ships all it's icons as .svg. Mint-Y ships it's icons as PNG's rendered from an svg source. We've seen proof in the past that the PNG icon themes rendered much faster in icon views and apps opened quicker.
When I give opinions, they are my own. Not necessarily those of any other Linux Mint developer or the Linux Mint project as a whole.

Interesting. I wondered if that was the issue.

Thanks!
