Martin Wimpress & Ubuntu MATE Status

Post by Voltron »

Hello, everyone!

With the Noble/24.04 release about one month away, I am curious to know if anyone knows what's going on with Ubuntu MATE 24.04 and/or Martin Wimpress. My last understanding is that Wimpy's interests have migrated to NixOS. And, there appears to be little to no official communication on the Ubuntu MATE website/blog. I have several clients on Ubuntu MATE and thought I would reach out here, too, to see if anyone knows what may be happening with Wimpy and Ubuntu MATE. Thanks for any information.

Ubuntu MATE fans sweating at this news can breathe: Martin says he plans to continue leading the Ubuntu MATE flavour going forward (hurrah) and will remain active in the wider Ubuntu and Snapcraft communities (phew).
