Try to install Mint along side Win10. all was going smoothly until the creation of grub. error message popped up. Cancelled install. If I could find the log file I would post that. Still on live cd.
Does the grub need to beon same sda as the mint and windows

Not knowing anything useful about your environment I will not hazard a guess other than to say there are thousands of posts on the net describing how-to to install Ubuntu/ Mint dual boots. One will almost certainly help you succeed.
