Hi
Just downloaded and tried it on my system, compiles O.K., have you got all fontconfig packages loaded?

There should be some clues in my config file on what to look for if you follow what it is checking for. Have you got xft and libpango installed?

Hi
I have the X-dev package and The GNU Fortran 77 compiler, g77-3.4 and libf2c2 installed, there seems to be a few people having trouble with Pango

A Google for:
"checking for X... no
configure: WARNING: X" development libraries not found" seems to turn up Pango

There is a bit here:
http://blogs.tssg.org/bmalone/

You could try RPM of pango and use alien to make deb, but you may still have dependecies problem.

If you wish I could leave a list of packages installed on my system in your PM. (1800+)
