Ho,
I changed to xscreensavers as default instead of gnomes. After doing so though I noticed really clcik screensavers do not show up in xscreensavers. Does someone have ideas on how to get these to show up like in gnome screensavers?

Did you get the xscreensaver-data-extra and the xscreensaver-gl-extra pkgs from repository?
