DeVeDe

Post by shiftkey »

Good day to you all.
The best I can explain this is I have a .avi file, the play back on VLC player is good, but after I convert it to a CUE/BIN or MPEG I get a loud noise that sounds like bad feed back, or a Screech/Squalling sound. can't seem to find a Topic about this.sorry if this has been covered.
Thanks........

Hi
This happened on this thread:
http://linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... d52c1ae26f

But with an flv, it was because the the file was partially corrupt.

OK I think I have found the trouble I am having with DeVeDe it seems to be a dependency problem with MPlayer, when I open a video file with MPlayer I get this Error (Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device)
what I tried was to uninstall MPlayer & DeVeDe & reinstall both, I also ran the Live CD in another PC & got the same error message when trying to play a video. anyone have a fix for this? thanks for your help.

When Mplayer is first used it (usually) needs configuring before playing

Open Mplayer, Right click on screen, select Audio, choose alsa, Select Video x11, close

When Mplayer opens in Firefox to view streaming video, audio, you "might" have to repeat the process.

If you go to the Devede home page, it mentions this problem and gives you the correct file to download for Cassandra, at the bottom of the page. It seems it's a problem with mplayer/mencoder.

Unfortunately, it's a .tar type file, so I have to learn how to install that.

The download at the bottom of the Devede includes instructions on how to install the fix, works fine for me now.
