Dear forum members,
I have been trying to update my Mint 8 helena KDE. I am tired of trying to fix this. My system is not affected in running program but when I see a sign of broken padlock, I am mentally exhausted. When I tried to fix broken package and update, I always get this. I tried suggestions given by others and from Ubuntu forum but nothing good result came out. Here is the result from running terminal. I need your help:

What suggestions have you already tried? Do you know if you're behind a proxy? I found a couple of fixes which worked for some people:
1) bypassing cache and proxy (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p= ... stcount=10)
or
2) changing the server
Start Synaptic, go to Settings menu -> Sources -> second tab
Select Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" and hit "Edit"
A new window opens up.
Select the URI line and replace http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ with, for example:
Edit: you may also have to change the server URI in Backports and Recommended updates. Leave the Security updates URI alone, it doesn't seem to work if you change the URI (I learned it the hard way 
)
This way you'll be using the German server instead of the main server. There shouldn't be any harm in this. Maybe country-specific mirror servers aren't always quite up-to-date regarding the packages? You can also replace de with another country code. For example, I put fi in there as I live in Finland.
Now try to update and hopefully everything goes a-okay

Thanks for your reply. I have tried archive source changing to different country code such as [de.for Germany/fr.for France/ca. for Canada/japan/Indonesia/Australia.....ect], but still no luck. I get different types

Oh, this problem seems like a tough one. Well, I'm (almost) at my wit's end but hopefully someone else has something helpful to add. By the way, did you try either of these two commands:

What about the install CD, have you checked its MD5 sum? Does updating work when you boot into the live CD session? If not, I'm thinking there's some kind of network/hardware error at play here.
Can you also post the output from

I am not sure if I checked md5sum for this iso.I forgot it. Usually it did before burning. I reinstalled 3 times. It upgrades software just after installation every time. It works. later on when I tried to upgrade error happens. Original KDE4:4.3.5 is there. it can't move to KDE 4:4.4.1, I saw the new version in synaptic package manager but can't be upgrade.

Well, there's enough space available, at least. I must say I don't know what goes wrong during the updates.
