VirtualBox, Mint Update and Nat

I am running Linux Mint in Virtual Box on a windows 7 box with (originally) network for the VirtualBox as Nat. Could not get Linux Mint Update to work, it would check that it could connect to google.com (when you peaked at the information) successfully. And just sat there.

After rebooting a few times, I decided to change the network to bridged and updated worked just fine and dandy.

Anyone else come across this problem? Is this a fluke, a bug?

Not heard of it before but thanks for letting us know. I was just helping another user with a similar problem so I'll suggest this.

I am also, trying several Linux distros via Virtualbox.

With LinuxMInt and updating/installing within Virtualbox.
It depends on 'how' you have the Virtualbox set-up ... a permanant or expanding hard-drive for the Guest OS?

Updates for LinuxMint will work through the Synaptic Manager or with the Terminal (CLI) ... but, do not work with MintInstall or MintUpdate.

Play around with 'how' you save things, and the settings, inside the Virtual OS
