DVD playback stopped working

Post by guitarhester »

Love the linux mint. Originally played DVDs no problem. But 2 days ago I tried to play a movie and totem gave me this, AN ERROR OCCURED "The source seems encrypted, and can't be read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?"

I know it's not the drive or the DVD, I just watched it in that drive 1 week ago.

So I open up synaptic from the mintmenu and search for 'libdvdcss', I only find libdvdcss2, and it's installed.

halp?

thanks,
hester

I turn my computer off at night, and the day after creating this topic when I rebooted, DVD playback was still broken in the fashion listed above. Today however, it 'magically' works. No reason, I didn't do anything, It just works again. ... Anyone know how or why?
