Enhanced Mint disk

Post by JohnH »

Hi there,

Just a suggestion to make Mint disk more flexible:

1) I would like it to list ntfs disks and choose which ones to mount.
2) I would also like an easy way to rename the disks e.g. instead of sda1 on my desktop, I would like to give it a name.

I know there are ways to do these things (I'm not sure the way know to do the second one will work with Mint disk because it relies on fstab). It seems to me that these features would be handy.

Regards

John

mintDisk doesn't use fstab...

To nickname your partitions have a look at that file: /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintDisk/aliases

Thanks for your reply Clem,

But my point was to suggest features to make life simpler for people who want greater control of their desktop appearance; in a simpler way.

dev/myfile=aliases is a little cryptic for the uninitiated. I figure that it would bring further kudos to Mint to have something as convenient as a menu that allows a choice of what partitions to mount and what names you would like to give them. Mint disk seemed a good place to do that.

Best regards
John
