Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Did a quick test with both the 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVD and the issues I was having with NFS mounting and Nautilus on my Netbook seem to be fixed in the final release. I'll probably try a full install in a few days (currently playing with Ubuntu Netbook Edition, and it's... um, interesting... very different UI. Haven't decided if I like it or not).
Media playback seems fine too (one of the reasons I'm still using Mint7 as my main OS is that media played too fast for me with Mint8).
A big Aloha (thanks) to Clem and the rest of the team for all their hard work!
EDIT: and Zoomer likes Mint too!

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Good job on this. I did a full review of it on my site Desktop Linux Reviews. Congrats, it's the first time I ever gave a distro a 5/5.

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Hope this is the right place to ask - i am interested if there is any approximate release date for "lightweight" editions such as LXDE?
Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Thank you to Clem and all the developers for another superb Mint edition. It is working like a dream.

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Yeah I guess you're right. I might stick with Helena for a while.GhoS wrote:They had said there would not be a direct upgrade path using terminal or GUI. The best suggestion is to download the backup tool first (located on the software page or through synaptic/terminal). Run that tool as it can backup your /home folder and your installed software.
Install Mint 9 and use the tool to restore your settings and software. I haven't yet done this since I'm waiting for the KDE release, but it should work much better (less bugs) than the terminal upgrade path.
Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
The backup tool booched all my files. It "backed up" all the file names but almost none of the actual files. I checked after it finished and saw all my files on my other drive, so I went ahead and installed mint 9. When I tried to use the tool to restore them, it gave me an error about how that directory wasnt created with the mint backup tool. So I tried to move them manually and noticed almost all my files are now 0kb in size. and of the few that are left, a bunch of them are corrupt.
Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
After some difficulty getting it to connect to wireless networks,I have finally installed Linux Mint 9 Isadora. One word...brilliant!The software manager is much, much, much better.I also love the fact that you have included Firefox 3.6,thanks for that.If you haven't already upgraded,I highly recommend it.Thanks Linux Mint Team! You are the best and, hopefully, with this release it will finally beat Ubuntu. So,that this distro gets the recognition it deserves.

Hi folks,
Many thanks to Clem & to everyone who has contributed to Isadora, not least our friend Husse. I just did a clean install after staying with Mint 7 Gloria since it was first released.
My Laptop is Toshiba Tecra A3X, here are some specs:
Question - is it possible to get Pulseaudio & Jack to work together in Mint 9? I replaced P-A with ALSA in Mint 7 but would rather not go that way this time. Any pointers? Ta.
Best wishes,
Barry

Installation was problem free & everything seems to be "working out of the box" so far including BBC iplayer & Youtube which if I can recall, needed (dreaded Intel) tweaking in Gloria. So some improvements, great. I hope that my feed back is useful.cpu:

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Mint 9 seems to have taken care a lot of the small issues I was having. Awesome job on Mint 9.
Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Well I upgraded from Helena and had so many problems I am switching back to Helena, which ran like a dream.
Problem #1 can no longer do full screen on my second HD widescreen monitor, unless I set the resolution really low. (Only half the screen is shown the rest is just black). I had no problems with this in Helena.
Problem #2 I live in Korea (but am a Brit) before Korean fonts were displayed really nicely under Helena. Now they are hardly legible, although I have installed all of the necessary language support.
Problem #3 Downloads seem incredibly slow. I know it's not my ISP because my friend is running his Mac at super fast speeds.
So did I do something wrong? Everyone else seems really happy, but I am encountering all of these problems. I've already posted about the first problem in another section on this forum, but received no reply.
By the way. I installed Mint 9 from the live CD into a new re-formatted root directory, while leaving my home directory untouched.

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
@clem: when will the 64bit KDE version for Isadora arrive?
Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Hello,
Installed yesterday on my eeePC 701 SD (in the internal 4GB SSD) and ... really impressive ... all the hardware is again detected and working successfully (like in 'Helena').
The boot time is not more faster than 'Helena' but the global performance seems to be better when working as usual
I love the new Software Manager !
Now, I will benefit of the next few days to appreciate much more this new release
Thanks you, the 'Linux Mint' team !!

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Nice work guys, this has got to be the best version of any distro, of all time.
Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Isadora is working like a dream on my wife's eeePC (can't remember the spec off the top of my head) Thanks!
I'm sticking with Helena on own computer for the moment. I'll probably try to upgrade (rather than reinstall) over the weekend.
A big "we are not worthy" to Clem and the team. I'll stick in some cash next payday.

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
Linux Mint 9 is certainly a worthy successor to Mint 8, and I want to join in the "thank you" chorus to Clem and the team for a great job well done.
Mint 9, like it's parent Ubuntu 10.04, is a LTS release and that's most welcome. As others have indicated I too plan on keeping 9 installed and up to date for the entire time support is offered, making my life just that much less complex!
A monetary contribution to the project will be forthcoming. Wish it could be more, but a bit of cash is always welcome and if enough of us chip in we'll keep Clem's team focused on turning out the best of the best in modern Linux desktop distros!

Re: Linux Mint 9 released!
I have a boot problem with Isadora... My HP Compaq 615 never boots from the first attempt, only from the second one. There was a problem with Helena (installation could not be started), so I used Gloria till the Isadora was released. The problem is with internal graphics, but I do not know how to solve it. Mint 7 Gloria works good. Helena doesn't work at all, Isadora starts from the second attempt
