Nvidia Driver ?

Postby Faith on Sat Dec 30, 2006 8:35 pm

I ask myself where him please of the Nvidia driver has remained and what should bring me please envy please? If I look in Synaptic, still the outdated driver is included there. SO what does this have to do?

You really really want the newest driver, even if it means that things could crash? OK ... as you wish.

Add this line to your /etc/apt/sources.list:
Code: Select all
deb http://nvidia.limitless.lupine.me.uk/ubuntu edgy unstable

Get the GPG keys, execute this command on the shell:
Code: Select all
wget http://nvidia.limitless.lupine.me.uk/ubuntu/root@lupine.me.uk.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -

Execute the update for the apt repos and install the drivers:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-$(uname -r) nvidia-glx

Tell nvidia's setup program to setup X.org for you:
Code: Select all
sudo nvidia-xconfig

All these instructions were copied and pasted from here:

Just a quick note, I don't know if it'll help but we never know..: envy is present in Bea.

According to his wacky view of the world because envy is already present in "Bea" it should auto-launch, auto-install all the needed drivers, and everything should be finished upon first login. He doesn't (want to) understand why this isn't done yet or why it doesn't work that way. All in all this guy is very unpleasant to deal with and plenty of swear words come to my mind. All in all he is a troll, don't waste your kindness and your time on him.

Just my honest thoughts.

You should have seen the other thread he started  There he was complaining about the language pack issue. Despite the fact that he did fully understand the warnings everywhere where people are told not to change the language during installation he nontheless insists on doing exactly that. And we are all stupid here for not fixing this issue as it should already have been known since December 20, and how come you dare to call that release a "Final" as there are still bugs in it? "Final" releases are supposed to be bug-free, you are not as professional as Microsoft ... blah blah blah

I scared him away by telling him that I usually charge money for delivering support ... Ha ha ha ha

You don't need to. Blue Screens of Death use Hexadecimal codes; hexadecimal numbers are a mathematical topic; and Mathematics is known to be the only true universal language. Hence blue screens in Windows are therefore universally misunderstood  So why would you need to change your language in Windows?
