He's a mac, he's a PC, and I'm a Linux

She's looking for an OS that will run super fast with only 1 GB of RAM, is secure (PC's smile starts to fade), requires very little disk space (you can see the anxiety on PC's face but Mac still thinks he's cool), she can tweak if it has features she doesn't like (Mac starts to look just a little unsure of himself), and can be installed for free on the comp she already has (Mac and PC both walk away).
Anyone like it?

Sure its a little funny, an inside Hollywood type of joke

http://blogs.sun.com/jonathan/entry/the ... e_computer
But today, all desktop environments are converging, Google thinks (as Sun said, The Network is the computer or the reverse in Microsoft's case)

So the underlying OS will get less important over time, it might be a long time
--and their will always be pockets of users who are either nostalgic about some OS (I like Beos for example, and have looked at Haiku: it's not quite ready yet), or like to tinker

For the vast majority of the others, it won't matter one way or t'other.

Sometimes people want something new though. Dell should start offering laptops/desktops with Linux Mint on them.
