G'day there,
Linux isn't devoid of games, just lacking in commercial gaming support.
As Linux Mint is derived from and fully compatible with Ubuntu, (which in itself is based on Debian), there is a wealth of information on gaming available.
Other than the Mint forums themselves (start here first), you might find the following links useful.
http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=230 An Ubuntu forum gaming thread.
http://www.ubuntugames.org/us A useful thread for gaming with Ubuntu.
http://gwos.org/doku.php/start Originally began as the Ubuntu Gamers Arena site.
There is also getdeb & playdeb, both of which offer software repositories for Ubuntu, but they seem to be down at present. For more info check the following link.
http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/09/0 ... or-ubuntu/As far as the command line / terminal goes, it can be very confusing at first, but ultimately very useful, (not to mention powerful).
If you do a google search for "linux command line for beginners", you'll find there are many tutorials to help you get started.
Not to mention of course the forums.
There's a lot to learn, you'll find though that there's a lot of very helpful and knowledgeable people willing to help.
Most of all don't be afraid to ask questions.
Enjoy your Linux journey.
Cheers.
