I barely installed linux mint 9 on my labtop and I'm very intrigued. I like it but I don't know much about it. If someone would like to give me the low down. ( especially on this " terminal" thing.) Drop me a line.

A good way to learn about Linux and Mint is to browse this forum (and any other forum you may like). You don't have to post anything, just move around and read any topic that catches your eye. Welcome. You can get gnome-games from the repositories, using either Software Manager or Package Manager. Enjoy, have fun.

Apart from the games category inside the repository for your version of Mint, there is also general information about games on Linux
--sometimes the games available are already packaged for some Linux distributions like Debian or Ubuntu others (Fedora) etc..
--many times though they are available in source code form, which requires a compile to match your system

Easiest, if satisfied with selections is to use games as are available from the Mint repositories

There is always, multiboot mode (dual boot) for dos/windows games, if you have many
--and it is possible that older games, for DOS/Windows will run under wine or dosbox or dosemu

Linux isn't devoid of games, just lacking in commercial gaming support.

As Linux Mint is derived from and fully compatible with Ubuntu, (which in itself is based on Debian), there is a wealth of information on gaming available.

As far as the command line / terminal goes, it can be very confusing at first, but ultimately very useful, (not to mention powerful).

If you do a google search for "linux command line for beginners", you'll find there are many tutorials to help you get started.

Not to mention of course the forums.

There's a lot to learn, you'll find though that there's a lot of very helpful and knowledgeable people willing to help.

Most of all don't be afraid to ask questions.

I figured out what emulators are and I need one for nintendo 64 games on coolrom.com. I found one emulator in software manger called "mupen64plus." I installed and now i can't find it on my computer. Does anybody know where I should look or is there another one I could try?

Mupen64plus for Linux Mint is a terminal based interface program, but there is Gui for it.Its called cutemupen.... you do have to find the main files....just search for mupen...
