Image distortions in LM 9 LXDE

In the previous version, only the splash screen was distorted, but now in version 9 the splash screen, the cursor and the icons in the tray are distorted (except for the speaker icon).

The OS is unusable, as some of the distorted items are not even recognizable. The computer is a Dell Latitude D800. What can be done about this?

On my Dell Latitude C610 only the icons on the splash-screen are distorted. I did not have this problem with Mint 8 LXDE. At least, this is a much smaller problem than yours, I can still work as usual.
