Dude!? I'm pretty new to Linux and I've been using and loving Mint for about 3 weeks now. Its running most everything that i used before but better. The only thing i missed way getting my frag on online.
But Dude again!!! I just found out about some sweet Multiplayer FPS!
I mean there are a bunch! and they are SWEET!!!!

Nexus, Cube 2, open arena, and the list goes on! not only are these free and online, but some of them look quite good!

I'm even more in love with Linux. If your a fps gamer and you dont know about these awesome free games, CHECK EM OUT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_free_first-person_shooters
and

Not all the games on those two site are for linux but the ones that matter are.

Any of you who have been into FPS on linux let me know what your opinions of some of these are. and also what other sweet games a former hardcore windows gamer might like! thanks guy.

And Thanks Chem and whoever else helped make this awesome distro!
I hope its around for ages to come!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Nexuiz is probably the best free fps on Linux at the moment. World of Padman is freaking creepy, it looks like a child's comic, but it gets really old really quickly. Open Arena is kinda fun but flat and dull looking. Warsow is great and looks like it was taken from the pages of a comic (looks almost completely cel-shaded which adds to the comic effect), which is also fun as hell to play. America's Army, boring, generic, "realistic" fps. Alien Arena, fun, but plays just like any fps and looks pretty good. Marathon: Aleph One (http://source.bungie.org/) is fun as hell but has dated graphics, it was made by Bungie, who is known for Halo. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is fun, plain and simple.

Hope that helps.

I'm a little late but that's ok.

I love Tremulous, its great, I mainly play on GameArena, and Adrenaline. If ever you see me (I go as {MP}LostOverThere - Hoorah for Monty Python Clan), Give me a heads up. :)

Can anyone recommend any FPS with a good single player campaign? I don't mean just running around shooting AI monsters in a deathmatch map, but a game that progresses nicely from level to level?

Thanks,
Jim
