LMDE Updates

Do I install these updates from mint 9 on this? There Is over 200 updates for this new release?
Packard Bell Intel Celeron CPU E1500@2.20GHZ,3 GB Ram,nVidia Ge-force 7050/nVidia n force 610i ( Integrated )160GB Sata hard drive, Running Linux Mint 13 ( Maya ) MATE Version.

My first install I patched LMDE including lvl 4 & 5 = had problems running the GUI
2nd install patched excluding 4&5 = good enough and fixed synaptic's auto search feature.

Could someone please clarify how updates are being handled? Should we be using the mint updater at this point or just straight apt, aptitude, or synaptic?

It is like the ME, use the Updater and 1-3 (or 2) for safer using or all (or Synaptic) for testing etc.
