[SOLVED] Best Mint9 for SubNotebook ???

I am going to get a new laptop, a Toshiba T130 with the following specs:

- processor Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.30GHz
- 4GB RAM
- Intel GMA X4500HD graphic card

As first OS, I think I'll try Mint9 Gnome 64bit. Does anybody have already tried Mint Gnome 64 on subnotebooks? How does it run on these machines?

Since I am fan of the LXDE desktop, I'd also like to put LXDE on top of Mint 64bit. Is this something difficult?

I put the GNOME version of Mint 9 on an Acer Aspire One AO532h netbook with a 1.66GHz Atom N450 and 2GB of RAM that I gave my niece for her birthday. It runs a lot faster then I thought it would, she loves it. I can't see why it wouldn't run fine.

The GNOME edition should be fine, but if you do not mind configuring stuff/learning a bit, LMDE (Debian Edition) might be better.

The GNOME Edition is indeed fine.

I have been using Mint 10 since the RC was released.

Just out of curiosity, if you're a fan of LXDE, why not put Mint 9 LXDE on that machine? Honestly, the 32-bit vs. 64-bit probably won't even make a noticeable difference.

Well, for the moment I am very happy with Mint 10 Gnome 64.

When Mint 10 LXDE is out, I'll probably try to create a hybrid system with a 64bit kernel, lxde desktop and Mint customization

I already did something similar in Virtual Box: starting from Ubuntu 10.10 x64 alternate install I succeeded in ending up with my personal, ultra-light Xubuntu 64bit

Mint 9 Gnome 64 bit ran noticeably slower on a Lenovo X100e (maximum 4Gb RAM) so i tried ALL the 32 bit Mint flavors and LXDE worked best for me except I really needed to turn off the touchpad (I use the trackpoint or an external mouse) and was able to do that in Peppermint Ice, which had no printer driver but I installed CUPS.

Ubuntu Netbook Edition also ran very well on the X100e.
