I am having memory leaks, freezes etc. trying to run VLC in LMDE, well seems any Debian based Linux because the new crunchbang does the same thing. I have no problem running VLC in any other flavor of Mint, Ubuntu, PcLinuxOS, Fedora, Sabayon or openSUSE as VB guests.
Anyone have any thoughts?
thanks

Actually some context could help, here
--which VLC version are you using
Yes, VLC on Debian has a history of problems/bugs?

Re: VLC and LMDE in VirtualBox problems
I actually uninstalled VLC because of the issues and installed gnome-player(which runs fine). it turns out is more likely a VirtualBox problem. Just to see, I installed a trial version of Parallels Desktop and installed the debian-based crunchbang "statler" into it as a guest. It ran VLC just fine, no memory leaks, no freezing, no stuttering, no problems at all. Seeing I have read in various posts people have no problem running it natively, and I had no problem running it in PD. it seems it must be related to VB.DrHu wrote:Actually some context could help, here
