Main Edition (Gnome-based) not visible at Main Page

Postby foersu on Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:33 am

Hello,
I have noticed, that since some time the main page of Linux Mint shows all the Linux Mint distros: Debian, Fluxbox, Xfce, KDE and LXDE, however no one word mentions the main gnome based and probably the most used distribution.

I hope the very good quality and stability so far of this main version does not decrease i.e. degrades because the available development resources are working at so many different distros.

Other opinions on that?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Mint Main is still the primary focus of the Development Team as mentioned in the blog postings. You will see the Main edition first on the list if you hover over the Downloads item on the main page.

A newbie friend of mine wrote me a few days ago enthusiastically that he was trying LXDE on an usb-drive. And he asked me if I knew more about KDE and Debian. "Why doesn he ask about Isadora / Main?", I thought. Then I took a closer look at your homepage. A regular LM user may not notice, but Isadora doesn't show in the slides! LMDE is first in line, so a new user will think this is the main version. Newbie users could be sadly disappointed with Mint (Debain) expecting the so widely acclaimed Out-of-the box experience, as LMDE is said to be a bit 'rougher' (I have to take Clem's word on this)
Anyway the main focus should be on Isadora (Julia next) ...

Yes and I do think they're spreading themselves a bit thin...

Odd . they are right the main edition doesn't show at least tonight but if you click on download you get directed to the download for the main edition. Server problems maybe?
