How to install and use Google Video Chat plugin in LMDE?

Post by unni »

I want to install Google Video Chat plugin in Linux Mint Debian Edition.
I added the repository link in the repositories of Package manager and installed.
But when I try to make video call it's giving unexpected error.
I think the way I installed is wrong.
Please help.

The way I installed it was by downloading it from Google then saving to my hard drive and opening it with gdebi. Uninstall your current version and try it that way. Let me know if it works out.

So you have the hardware to support it. Have you installed the drivers for your graphics card?

I didn't installed any specific drivers for my Graphics card.
The application "Cheese" was detecting my webcam and is working fine.

So you can use your web cam for things other than Google talk? Can you use it on Skype? Aside from graphics errors does it report any problems with your connection not being fast enough? I have a 20Mb/s connection but sometimes the software will think it is less and wont allow video to send. You may need to install the specific drivers to get Google Talk to work but try a new install from the website. Get the .deb package and save it. Then Use gdebi to open it. Let me know
