well, im back with mint..
ok,
first let me say, im so happy mint has come this far, the only thing that has kept me from using it in the past was internet fuggles.. but that seems to be gone too..
heres my complaints so far,
i think these 2 should be taken care of before the next version is done.
when i tried to use gparted to shrink my windows drive, it dook a dump.. because mintdisk kept remounting the drive..
id right click on the drive, tell it to unmount so i could partition it and itd be fine.. but as soon as gparted started working on the drive, it would remount..
it was quite the hassle.
it did the same thing if i selected manually edit partition tables from the installer.
suggestion, maybe make it so mint disk is a option on the live disk, like.. ask if you want it on or off before it loads or something.. maybe a pop up as soon as mint gets done loading, if you select off itll be easier to install
then again, it may have only been a problem on the machine i was using..
and beryl dosent work, i just get white screens. do i need to get the nvidia driver?? the card is a 6600GT so.. ya..
otherwise, im still ipressed by Mint. and i hope it keeps getting better. ^_^

Re: well, im back with mint..
I can't help you with the gparted problem if Mint keeps auto-mounting the drive but I generally run gparted from their LiveCD.... it fits on a mini-CD.phantommaggot wrote:ok,

As for the Beryl problem, have you run Envy yet? You need to run Envy to install your nVidia driver before running Beryl.

OK,
so heres whats up..
i installed all the updates, and i installed the nvidia driver with envy
now when i start beryl.... nothing happens at all..
the jewel shows up in the bottom corner like its on.. but it wont work..
i can get beryl settings manager to come up when i click on the jewel.. but no settings change anything..
if i type beryl in the terminal it just goes white and locks up...
so where do i go from there...
quick edit,
i right clicked on the jewel, it automatically set the window manager to metacity
when i set it to beryl.. i get the white cube.
it has the beryl caps on the cube, but no linux mint on the desktop sides.
maybe i can try to reinstall the nvidia driver.. ?
one more edit
i manullay installed the driver, picked the middle age version
it works, but i cant get the emerald manager...
soi dont have the close and minimize buttons... arrg..
