easy way to update firefox

Post by DJ A. J. Slye »

If Firefox pops up that a new version is available or you use help / check for updates and a new version is available, here is how to update using Firefox update:

hit alt f2 and type gksudo firefox, now using help/check for updates should allow Firefox update to run and install the update, that's it close all Firefox windows and reopen, your now enjoying 3.6.12...

Hi,

Thanks for the tip - I had been wondering how to do it painlessly. Worked fine.

Maybe it works... but I doubt this approach is kosher.

I usually add the Mozilla/Firefox repositories to my sources.list . . . updates/upgrades are then automatic, every time I update.

Code: Select all

##Run this command: wget -q -O - https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | apt-key add - && apt-get update

Copy and paste, this to the bottom of your /etc/apt/sources.list >> deb http://mozilla.debian.net/packages/ ./

Then ... apt-get update
I am now using Firefox-4.0 beta 7 . . . successfully.
