Card reader [SOLVED]

Post by riki »

Running LMDE and suddenly the card reader on my desktop has stopped working. Never had any problems with this SonyMemoryStickProDuo until now. Thanks.

I would like to add that a recent update may have caused the damage plus I have enabled Romeo (unstable packages doesn't sound too good!). Something has borked the card reader and through IRC I am told that nVidia drivers need reinstalling but the CLI instructions (sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop>sudo sh file.run>sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start) are not working and for the moment I am stuck unless some kind soul out there comes to my rescue with clearer, step-by-step, instructions. CLI is still not my cup of tea! :) I would hate to bork the whole system and start from scratch all over again. Voilà!

Nobody? Is there a way to check whether it is a hardware or software problem?

Could the following have anything to do with my problem?

riki-desktop riki # dconf
/usr/bin/dconf:3: DeprecationWarning: The popen2 module is deprecated. Use the subprocess module.
import os, sys, glob, re, shutil, getopt, popen2, time, fnmatch
/usr/bin/dconf:5: DeprecationWarning: the md5 module is deprecated; use hashlib instead
import difflib, smtplib, gzip, md5, sha
