Dropbox install problem for LMDE

Post by magian »

Hi Guys,

I am re-installing LMDE on my netbook and have noticed that there is no longer a package for dropbox available:

scott@imp ~ $ sudo apt-get install dropbox
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package dropbox

Has this been removed and is anybody aware of a work-around?

I managed to install it compiling from source. https://www.dropbox.com/download?dl=pac ... &src=index. (Compiling instructions are in the README file included in the tarball)

I used intructions from this site. http://digitalexplorations.wordpress.co ... ebian-sid/

I also needed the following packages, which were not already installed, via the command line following:

sudo aptitude install python-roman python-docutils docutils-writer-odt python-chardet python-pygments docutils-writer-manpage

No need to install from source; it's just that the "dropbox" package is simply unavailable in Debian Testing at the moment. However, there is a package from Sid...

I've a problem with dropbox on LMDE. I've two pc with lmde, in one there is dropbox 0.7 and in the other there is dropbox 0.8. in both version the dropbox emblems don't work in nautilus. Is there a way to see the syncing emblems?
thanks a lot!

Same here; keep in mind that Debian's Dropbox package doesn't include nautilus integration like Ubuntu/Mint's dropbox packages.

I've been using the dropbox package from sid provided above
works really well on my LMDE netbook

after the recent mint update, my dropbox is no longer synching
tried reinstalling and it just stays at initializing

is there a workaround for this?
thanks

update:
figured out why it wasn't synching
i was connected to a proxy connection
once i entered it in the dropbox settings
everythings all synched up now :)
