Hi, I just came over to Linux mint from using Ubuntu. I liked Ubuntu, but I do not like the changes in 11.04, so I thought I'd try Linux Mint Debian. I was looking throgh the respotories when I happened upon Mutter, and remembered liking it a while back when I tried it in Ubuntu. However, when I go to launch it I get this error:
Window manager error: Unable to initialize Clutter.
I had been getting a different error before that would kill and then relaunch metacity, but I do not recieve it now. I have tried Compiz as well to no avail. Sorry if this is a really simple problem, I'm new to any kind of these issues.

Re: Using Mutter [Debian Edition]
just my curiosity - what's the point using Mutter over Metacity+Compiz?
Re: Using Mutter [Debian Edition]
If you came from Ubuntu... and liked the Unity stuff then I guess Mutter makes some sense.kwevej wrote:what's the point...
If you wanna get used to Gnome 3... I guess Mutter also makes some sense.
Other than that... not really!
