(SOLVED) Update Killed LMDE
Updated LMDE last night and now it will not boot. It gets as far as the little button spinning around, and then completely locks up. If I boot in recovery mode I can start x in root mode, but I have no clue what to do from there. I'm beginning to think the only solution is to wipe LMDE completely.

Search your logs (messages and syslog) and have a look into Xorg.0.log

Nothing in there appears to shed any light on the situation. They are way to long to post here. I may just have to nuke LMDE. I don't think there is any way to revert an update.defcon wrote:Search your logs (messages and syslog) and have a look into Xorg.0.log

Try or if that doesn't help maybe

Hi tdockery97,
Slap your wrist - back in September I suggested to you regular Clonezilla image backups.
It is nice to be able to solve problems via the terminal, but, Clonezilla would have been a very quick fix!
Good luck with it.
Regards,
Dyfi.

Re: (SOLVED) Update Killed LMDE
I'm one of Clonezilla's biggest fans. I do a new image at least every 2 weeks that has latest updates, or whenever I make major changes in installed software.

Hi tdockery97,
As a matter of interest I now use Parted Magic rescue CD which includes Clonezilla and loads of other rescue tools.

Thanks for the great tip Dyfi. I just downloaded and burned live CD. It loads and runs completely from RAM. How cool is that?Dyfi wrote:Hi tdockery97,
