I just installed Celena on my old Dell 4100.
I partitioned the HD into /boot, /var, /usr, etc., in case that makes any difference for this problem.
On bootup it stalls with the following message:
"Grub Loading Stage 1.5.
GRUB loading, please wait...
graphics file "/etc/grub/message.mint" missing, press a key to continue..."
I can press the space key and then it boots fine, but would like to fix the error if possible.
Grub graphics file missing - press a key to continue...

Thanks! It works now!
In my case I copied the message.mint file from /etc/grub to /boot/grub and edited down the menu.lst file there to read gfxmenu=/grub/message.mint and it worked.
Curiously when I first tried editing it to gfxmenu=/boot/grub/message.mint it did not work. The little details mean a lot.
