ahh, stuck in console mode

Hello, I reallly in need to help. I was installing some theme. Restart the computer, now I can only boot into text mode. How do I get back the login screen and graphic??
the theme i install was :

please please somebody help, I got a final to study for and all my files are on the laptop

I installed that theme recently and it didn't break anything in the process.
Try loging in and starting X in the terminal:

Code: Select all

$ startx

Still, you can try removing the package:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove orta theme &&  apt-get autoremove

Also you can try removing the ppa and updating:

Code: Select all

sudo ppa-purge ppa:nikount/orta-desktop &&  apt-get update

Nevertheless I don't think the problem is in Orta theme nor the PPA

i did cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf
