Hi netbeast!
First: Please format your text - to better read it.
To help we need some information:
1. You have a notebook or a desktop computer?
2. Windows (W7?) was installed first?
3. What did you install in a final step?
4. Boot from hard disk to your (Mint) Desktop, open a Terminal / Konsole, type:

Code: Select all

lsb_release -rd

and post the output.
5. Your desktop is Gnome, KDE or?

The output was Description: Linux Mint Debian Edition
Release: 1
and i had windows 7 installed before i dont think that has anything to do with it ive been slowly and manually doing the updates i havent updated anything that has anything to do with video aka ffmpeg ,gstreamer vlc anything an i mean anything i wont even update the core of mint well i will try it sometime but i only got 45 updates out of 600 so i must be closing in on what package caused it becuase i still got video .

Hi!
As you see, you have problems to format your text: you can choose Preview before submitting.
Your output "lsusb" shows, that the cam is recognized:

Code: Select all

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 041e:400a Creative Technology, Ltd PC-Cam 300
You should search, e.g. in the forum and with Google, usind the words "problem", "PC-Cam 300" or "ID 041e:400a"
I will try to find out details about the cam.

Edit:
I found this (Mint depends on Ubuntu):

ya sounds like my problem but the kernel update didnt help me just not installing that libgphoto2-2 made my camera work or not work must be the way the os communicates with the camera after that program is installed d/k i wrote the makers of that program because it says my camera is expiremental under there program.
