Hello Ken,
How are you doing old boy? :)
As you correctly guessed, I am off to a new expedition. I am also recharging the batteries.
But my Internet connection is poor in these mountains.
Hope to get back soon.

Hmmm... I have been away from this thread for too long. not sure why. Mercy, I have been away from this whole Mint forum for too long.
That being said, let me just touch on some earlier posts, if I may.
The Earth is alive and she is resilient. But it is high time we cleaned house - no matter what fable, parable, doctrine or creed one wants to use to explain why. Just get-er-done. No more excuses (not directed at anyone, just in general.)

And welcome all blessings.

I hope the expedition was all it was meant to be,

You are so right. We must clean house if we want a healthy environment.

Thanks and 'Cheers' to you too.

Had I not noticed before that your web page is in Greek? Not to say it is Greek to me, which it is, but that like, it is in Greek to everyone?

Hello Ken,
I have kept notes during this expedition since it was almost impossible to come on live. :)
The wireless Internet connection was many times impossible, mostly because of magnetic disturbances created by strange
flying objects on mount Olympus.
And all this in spite of the sophisticated equipment that was provided by the technical department in the Zeus headquarters

I hope to be able to report in detail the extraterrestrial phenomena that I was fortunate enough to experience during my trips
with the Zeus vehicle. :D

Expecting to be back home shortly.
Cheers,

Lady Quindecim, there was a time when English was all Greek to me
So, for my English speaking friends, I have made a bi-lingual blog .

Undelivered WW1 postcard

Post by npap »

Can anybody identify these WW1 soldiers? How about a translation for the back of the card?

Hi npap, I did try to do a translation but I was not very easy as the writing is not that clear. However I can tell you that this postcard was written by a german soldier to a friend who was also a soldier at that time. The card is addressed to a Karl Kamerer who at that time was with the reserve Infantry Regiment of the 7th Company. The writer is obviously on of the gentleman on the photo but I do not know which. He starts off by telling his friend that he had this postcard made of himself and he wanted his friend to have a copy there off. He then tells him that at the time he was well.
from here onwards the writing is not at all very clear and I can only identify odd words in each following sentence but the general message is.
Why have I not heard from you for so long?
He then seems to call his friend a sour cucumber and tells him if he does not hear from him soon he will be highly upset
The rest is not clear to me.
Hope this helps somewhat

Undelivered WW1 postcard

Post by npap »

Dankeshoen for the translation Germanix :)
I was hoping that this postcard would be very valuable to the descendants
of the gentlemen in the picture.
I hope that someone recognises his ancestors in it.

I found the card in an uncle's collection of souvenirs; he passed away quite some time ago. He was a World War One veteran who was sent to the European front in 1917 and was a casualty of poison gas. But he died in the US at the age of 95. :o
I have another postcard that I will post here, hoping to help the descendants of those men that fought in the futile WW I war.

I may rescan the postcard at a higher resolution and try to make it as readable as possible.
I hope that some people will be interested.

Thanks again Germanix. :) Good work!
npap

PS. In this clearer scan, the stamp on the postcard reads: Fereinslazaret Traunstein----Neues Krankenhaus
Note: Lazarets were isolation or quarantine places.

Yes, Richyrich.
That is an architectural marvel, to say the least.

Great design, Richy!

I have no trouble navigating those stairs. But oddly enough, the beer seems to leave my glass on the upper levels. :?
