sudo apt-get remove --purge firefox
You could also try : Menu-Internet-Firefox-right click-uninstall (works for any application,really).

sudo apt-get purge firefox && sudo apt-get autoremove --purge
(note: I don't have LMDE so if you run the command above to remove Firefox read if it will remove anything important before hitting enter. After removing Firefox it will search for its dependencies and remove them as well)

The problem with this , as I already have done this. it install another browser their when you delete firefox, when you delete the other browser, the firefox is back again
so yes, this option does not work with LMDE
