It's just lmde
It's just lmde
Re: LMDE needs a codename
well personally I just like LMDE. I think the name really speaks for its self. that is just my 2 cents.

Re: LMDE needs a codename
i dont know. i think it would just be cool to have an elegant name to match the elegant styl of Linuxmint. LMDE isnt at all elegant a name.
Re: LMDE needs a codename
OK, maybe I am being old fashioned, but I don't really care whether or not code-names (brand-names) are being attributed to particular productsdante19992 wrote:i havnt seen a forum or nutin about this but i think LMDE needs a codename. i say we sould place suggestions on here and if any moderators out there like one they should take it. ill be the first to make a suggestion. i say true to linuxmint style we should go with an elegant girls name. i suggest Angela.
--so, I would be annoyed if a # was used (Mint 8x, Mint10x) or as it is some acronym that references the distribution type, such as xfce or lmde or lxde

Re: LMDE needs a codename
The big plus of staying with just plain LMDE is that it has already been picked up and recognized throughout the Linux community.
Mint Cinnamon 20.1
Re: LMDE needs a codename
true i guess i just think an elegant name would just make it prettier
Re: LMDE needs a codename
I've been calling it "Lembas" in my head, after accidentally typing it "lmbe".
Anyhow I like LMDE in type, as it's short, the meaning is not ambiguous, and it's well recognized. But I don't look forward to using it in spoken conversation. It's cumbersome to say. I'll probably just say "Debian Mint". Of course if it had a *name* it would be even more cumbersome.
"Oh I'm using Zuzu Petals"
"what the heck is Zooz... ?!"
"It's the cute name for Linux Mint Debian Edition".

Re: LMDE needs a codename
Plain old "LMDE" works great!!
It's a wonderful Distro, and one I've grown quite fond of. If you think it needs a CodeName. Give it one yourself.
For me, it's always going to be, "LMDE"
