Enlightenment Desktop? If Gnome tanks.

Has the Linux Mint team ever thought about using the Enlightenment Desktop? http://www.enlightenment.org It might be worth considering if Gnome goes on the way side because of gnome-shell and Unity.

Its a good thought but honestly, I really doubt Gnome is going away soon. I would think that if it was the Mint devs would already have a plan or announced something. But glad to see what you sent though. Nice looking desktop.

There was some discussion in the forum on E17 back in late 2006 and early 2007, thereabouts. I have not heard anything much since then.

A distro called MoonOS is similar to what Mint would be with E17. You may be interested in looking at that.

My second choice after GNOME would probably be Xfce.

I recently tried PCLinuxOS's version with e-17 . I can't say that I like it compared to the standard Gnome in Mint.

Bodhi Linux 0.3.1 at 394 MB downloaded very fast via Torrent.

Live desktop very interesting. Fonts in menu are unnecarily small , especially for my eyes.
The little box " nect " at the bottom is almost unnoticed.
Left-click anywhere in face of desktop to get main menu.
To install - - >System>Administration>Install .
Installer sequence regular Ubuntu Lucid.

Question - - Where do I launch applicatgons , and where do I launch Terminal .?
How are applications installed ?

Fonts are easily adjusted, go to fonts under settings to adjust them. You said you found the menu... Applications appear, well under applications after installing - just like on any other linux desktop.

Going online is a pain after being spoiled by synaptic. Its almost like how you install things in Windows, which is one of the worst things about that system after the file system and the corporation itself.

Why cant they add any useful repositories by default? Dont have the bandwidth to support biters?

If this is about Bodhi Linux, try it for a while. Some getting used to, but there is both the online web based install option and a package manager available if you find going to a website difficult. You can add CDs or offline media there if you have and prefer to use the sources you have at hand. You can add other online repositories as easily as in any other distro I've used.

Bodhi grew on me a bit. After installing the package collection I had Synaptic working.

I have a fairly functional install now. I installed Gnome over it, but kept the file manager. Its lite enough for 512 ram and a 1.6mhrz single core CPU/
