for the lazy people who want more "out of the box"ing and less flexibility, the procedure is a bit simpler:

Install mintdisk :)

I "think" Ubuntu 7.04 is looking at including ntfs-config... we've basically been working on the same thing here :) When it comes out I'll review it. If it's better it will replace mintDisk. If it's not, we'll take the good things out of it to make mintDisk even better.

I have mintdisk, and I am allowed to read things off of my external ntfs hard drive, but I am not allowed to write anything onto it or delete anything off of it. Is that normal? Is there anything that can be done so that I might be able to write and delete without getting really bogged down with command line stuff?

I hope i dont disturb anyone by replying to this that "late".
But you can use

Code: Select all

sudo mount -a -o force
to do a forced mount of all the drives without rebooting.

Thanks for the tutorial!
