I have followed the how to and added a start up to the menu and told it to start at log-in. This shows OK in start up applications how-ever it does not start. I have tried to run compiz --replace in the terminal but get the following:
wilf@lmde ~ $ compiz --replace
compiz (core) - Fatal: Software rendering detected.
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0
Launching fallback window manager
wilf@lmde ~ $
Can anyone help please.
Cannot start compiz

Re: Cannot start compiz
Compiz requires hardware that is capable of 3d rendering. http://wiki.compiz.org/Troubleshooting

Re: Cannot start compiz
wilf@lmde ~ $ compiz-check
compiz-check: command not found
Sorry no output.
I have Mint 9 installed and compiz works fine on this computer.
I am running LMDE 32
Also in several posts mention is made that you need to change xorg.conf. My installation does not have this file.
